Chef Daja was born and raised in Wilmington, NC. She was just eight when her gastronomic passion for food began to stir.
As a child, Chef Daja would watch Food Network, where she drew inspiration from world-renowned chefs showcasing their culinary skills and took notes for new recipes to create at home. Her grandfather would take her to gather all of the ingredients and her grandparents would allow her to make gourmet recipes for their family to eat. The unique mix of encouragement and constructive feedback from her family was instrumental in fueling her love for cooking.

Embracing motherhood has amplified Chef Daja's culinary passion, inspiring her to pass on the baton to the next generation. With her young daughter showing early signs of interest in the kitchen, the stage is set for the tradition to continue. As she guides her daughter's tiny hands, teaching her how to knead dough or season a soup, she feels a sense of satisfaction and joy.

Chef Daja has had several years of experience working in the culinary industry and holds a Master's degree in Hospitality Management from Johnson & Wales University. She carries that standard into every service Daylish provides. Together with her husband, Quelontae, they lead a team dedicated to consistency, creativity, and care.
